Tropea

Tropea is a 36”x36” abstract expressionist work structured entirely through emotion. Rather than depicting a landscape, it translates an internal perception of place into color, rhythm, and gesture. The composition is guided by four interwoven states: belongingness, familiarity, bravery, and playfulness.

Layers of acrylic build a surface that alternates between softness and tension. Areas of calm recognition are interrupted by moments of risk and movement, allowing the painting to remain active and unresolved. The square format reinforces equilibrium, while the gestural language prevents stillness from becoming static.

Created in 2026, Tropea reflects a continued exploration of emotional architecture — how memory and sensation can be organized visually without narrative. The work is now part of a private collection in Switzerland.
